Reflecting on KIMIE DESIGN LAB Lab interior design workshop experience in summer 2023, I'm excited to share insights gleaned from a vibrant gathering of fellow interior enthusiasts. This summer, our workshop was a melting pot of creativity and camaraderie, drawing in a diverse group of female entrepreneurs, including interior decorators and small shop owners, all eager to explore the intersection of lifestyle and design. We gathered at renovated house of Tokyo-based interior stylist, Katsuya Kubokawa. The house was designed by Kunio Maekawa, an architect who studied under Le Corbusier, and was built in 1957, and later on Mr. Kubokawa rennovated it and uses as atelier. Throughout the event, we delved deep into the art of crafting harmonious living spaces. From discussions on the delicate balance between aesthetics and functionality to exploring strategies for promoting sustainability in eco-friendly design, our lectures sparked meaningful conversations and inspired fresh perspectives.
Ikebana Experience
One highlight was our immersion into the meditative practice of ikebana, led by the skilled hands of Mr. Otsuki.
As we arranged blooms with mindful intention, the beauty of simplicity and balance unfolded before us, reinforcing the transformative power of nature in interior design.
Winery Experience
Of course, no gathering would be complete without the joy of shared culinary experiences. From exquisite Californian wines to delectable French delicacies, each meal became an opportunity to forge connections and deepen our sense of community.
